This is a great opportunity to hear Adil’s expertise and unique experience representing cases within the legal Colombian system and how the UK legal profession can best support justice and rule of law in Colombia, at a particularly sensitive time for Colombia when attacks against human rights defenders continue to increase are the Peace Process is being hungs in the balance.

Adil is a Colombian human rights lawyer working on land restitution and environmental cases in the Northern Bolivar region (Caribbean area). He represents victims of the armed conflict before the newly established Transitional Justice System (JEP) of the 2016 Peace Agreement, and before the National Court. He also represents communities that are being negatively impacted by companies, regarding the protection of water and the preservation of biodiversity against mining interests. Adil’s visit is crucial due to the escalating risk human rights defenders, including human rights lawyer, are currently facing in Colombia.
