The Caravana and several other organisations sent a joint letter to President Iván Duque expressing concern for the safety of human rights lawyer Daniel Prado Albarracín. Mr Prado is representing victims of human rights violations in the case of the ”12 Apostles”. Santiago Uribe Vélez, brother of former president and current senator Álavaro Uribe Vélez, stands accused of co-founding this paramilitary group implicated in alleged murders and forced disappearances in Antioquia. As a result of his involvement in the case, Daniel Prado has been subject to frequent threats and harrassment, as well as public smear campaigns. We asked Colombian authorities to ensure that he receives the necessary protection.
