Caravana and other five international organizations concerned about risks faced by Equipo Jurídico Pueblos, including recent detention of human rights lawyer Rommel Durán and other two human rights defenders

The Caravana and five other international organisations (all of whom are members of the International Caravana of Jurists) are deeply concerned to learn that on 1 July, whilst protesting peacefully, three human rights defenders: ROMMEL JONATHAN DURAN CASTELLANOS, human rights lawyer with EJP, community leader ELIECER ALFONSO VERGEL and MARÍA FERNANDA MONTIEL MURILLO, a journalist with the Colombia Informa and member of EJP, were subjected to violence by law enforcement officials during their arrest for allegedly blocking public roads and for alleged violence against public servants. They were later released without charge.
